Welcome to PGC Composts!

Help protect our environment and keep valuable materials out of our landfill!

We are expanding our free curbside composting program for our eligible residents who use curbside County-collected trash and recycling pickup. On Mondays starting in fall 2022, eligible residents will get one wheeled green cart and kitchen pail for composting food scraps and yard trim, and a welcome kit.

Composting is as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Put your kitchen pail in a convenient location to easily collect scraps, like on your countertop, so you can easily collect food scraps and leftovers.
2. When the pail is full, empty the contents into the green cart. All food scraps must be in the green cart. Remember to bring your pail back inside. To prevent odors, layer yard trim or uncoated paper products in the bottom of your green cart.
3. Put your kitchen pail in a convenient location to easily collect scraps, like on your countertop, so you can easily collect food scraps and leftovers.

Our County is a Pioneer in Organics Composting

Our Organics Composting Facility is one of the largest composting facilities on the East Coast. The facility produces a nutrient-rich amendment product called Leafgro GOLD® that is great for flower gardens, vegetable gardens, perennials, bulbs, trees, and shrubs. The sale of Leafgro GOLD® supports the operational costs of the facility! Learn more about the facility here or watch a video about the facility.
